Joseph & his Coat of Many Colours

Sunday 25 June 2023 from 4 – 6pm

We are pleased to announce a three-session Messy Miners season for Winter 2023.

It’s a great way to spend a cold winter’s Sunday afternoon at home online with your friends building stories in Minecraft.
Our story this month will be about Joseph, a boy whose father gave him a beautiful coat to show him his love. His jealous brothers threw him into a well and then he was sold into slavery in Egypt. Joseph went on to work for the Pharaoh and had many amazing dreams. It’ll be a great story to build!
Our first Messy Miners for 2023 will happen on Sunday 25th June, 4pm-6pm on Zoom and in Minecraft.

Grumbling and Grace!

This Sunday 7th May is Messy Church again!  We’ll meet from 4:30 – 6:30pm at Ivanhoe Uniting Church, Seddon St, Ivanhoe.

We’ll have our usual extravaganza of activities, crafts and games, and a celebration time in the church. And we’ll finish it off with our usual yummy shared meal!
Our story this time is about the Israelites who escaped from being prisoners in Egypt and were wandering around in the wilderness. God provided manna for them to eat… but they grumbled a lot about it! We’ll use this story to wonder about our own lives: what are the things we grumble about? Where does God provide grace, even when we’re unable to see it?
There are 2 things that it would be great if you could bring along for Messy Church this time:
Firstly, if you could bring some leaves and flowers – particularly autumn leaves! We’ll use these as part of our craft.
Secondly could you please bring some non-perishable food items to donate to people who have less than we do. The story is one about God providing for us, and so this is a way that we can help provide for others in need.
If you have friends who you think would like to join us at Messy Church, please bring them along with you!

Celebrating God’s Creation!

Sunday 11 September 2022

4.30 – 6.30pm

Ivanhoe Uniting Church, Seddon Street

This month we are going to be joined by Megan Knott from the ‘Banyule Network Climate Action Group’ and we’re going to think about a very strange story from the Old Testament book of Job, when God’s voice can be heard from a whirlwind and he asks Job: “Where you there when I made the earth?” We’re going to explore the idea that God calls us to care for God’s creation, and think about ways in which we can care for the planet.

As usual we’ll have all the fun, crafts, games and science experiments, a celebration time in the Church and a yummy meal to share. We look forward to seeing you all! Why not bring some friends (and their parents) along?
