In this service, we will share in the story of Christina of Markyate, a medieval anchorite nun who lived in the 12th century.
Rev Sandy Brodine has followed in the footsteps of Christina while travelling in the UK (many of the photos of St Albans Cathedral included in the service are Sandy’s) and she has also cross stitched some of the illustrations from her Psalter.
We hope you enjoy Christina’s feisty resolve to follow Jesus with all of her being.

Messy Baptism

It’s Messy Church again this coming Sunday, and we can’t wait to see you there.
This month we’re going to be talking all about Baptism! It’s going to be a great opportunity for those families who are interested in learning what Baptism is all about, as well as an opportunity for those of us who have been baptised to ‘remember’ our baptism, and have a think about what it’s all about!
If you have a photo of your baptism, please bring it with you – whatever age you are! We’ll have all of our usual fun activities, crafts and games, as well as a celebration time and a shared meal. (Meal is provided – please let us know if you have dietary requirements.
If you have friends who you think would like to join us at Messy Church, please bring them along with you.

This is a reprise of a service from 2022, focusing on Woman Wisdom/the Holy Spirit.
It also includes an introduction to the practice of breath prayer.
Gathering of the People of God

‘Together’ is an ecumenical prayer vigil being held in Rome on 30 September 2023 in the presence of Pope Francis and representatives of different churches.
Prayers will also be held around the world and in Melbourne from 28 September to 1 October with preparations being led by the Taizé Community.
As a part of this international event, we would love to have you join us at Heidelberg Scots Uniting Church for a service led by the SPACE Contemplative Community.

Ivanhoe Uniting Church, 15 Seddon Street
Singing as one of a group is one of the greatest joys we can experience. Two Network events have been scheduled to assist us to sing our way into spring. Both will be held in the Ivanhoe worship space, beginning at 2 pm, and followed by afternoon tea.
The dates for these events are:

- Sunday 22 October 2023
The first event will provide an opportunity to sing our favourite hymns and songs, as is part of our September Sabbath program. The hymns and songs featured in this event will be those suggested by members of the Network, and can be chosen from any source, old or new.
The second event will be dedicated to Rod Horsfield’s new hymns, which is published in a collection called ‘Songs in Season’.
Please join us at Ivanhoe for both of these events and come prepared to have a great time of fellowship.
