The Faiths 4 Climate Justice Week of Action runs from 14 to 24 September 2024, organised by the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change (ARRCC).

In response, the Cross Gen Congregational Leaders agreed to display two banners at their Heidelberg Heights worship site. They have also sent photos of the banners and an email to local MP, Kate Thwaites, urging more action on Climate Change, while acknowledging that she is working hard on this too.

Sunday 1 September 2024 – Friday 4 October 2024

As we begin the month of September, we begin within the church what is known as “The Season of Creation”.

This runs from 1 September (Orthodox Church ‘Day of Creation’) up until 4 October (Feast Day of St Francis of Assisi).

The Uniting Church in Australia and a few others took a lead in promoting a Season of Creation in the global church’s liturgical calendar, with themes for each Sunday during a typical 3-year lectionary cycle. Our current Banyule Worship Plan has the following themes for each week:-

Sunday 1 September                Day of Creation
Sunday 8 September                Earth Sunday
Sunday 15 September              Humanity Sunday
Sunday 22 September              Sky Sunday
Sunday 29 September              Mountain Sunday
