Have no clue as to what this OT reading means. The bible is full of stories worth hearing.
Why choose the above reading ? (Probable answer. “:Its in the lectionary”.)

      Hi Gordon,
      Thanks for your question.
As Sandy replied, the scripture is on the Lectionary, and it provides good images for us to reflect on the incredible event of God’s incarnation in this season of Advent.
Particularly, I focused on verse 8 containing an analogy of the potter and the clay that shows clearly why God became a human being.

      Blessings,
      Jong Soo

  2. Rev. Sandy Brodine says:

    Hi Gordon,
Thanks for your response! Yes, it is on the Lectionary. This is the very start of the new year of the Church calendar – the start of advent – so we’ve moved to Mark’s gospel. The Isaiah reading is there because it’s one that the reading from Mark’s Gospel refers to. There are lots of good reasons why this reading helps us to understand who ‘the one’ we are waiting for might be… I think Jong Soo is going to preach about this reading today, so it might help you understand it better. Please let us know what you think after the service!
    Blessings
    Sandy

thank you Jong Soo, Gordon & Sandy for the discussion above. It’s helpful to have the OT unpacked – the references throughout the NT are often a little obscure to me!
Communion this morning was beautiful, thank you Paul
